Athletics at Mariners

While the Oakland bullpen has been the superior unit in this series, Gilbert’s ability to provide length—averaging over six innings per start recently—limits the exposure of a shaky Seattle relief corps. The Mariners (10-15) are in a high-urgency spot to avoid a demoralizing home sweep, and with their ace on the mound against a pitcher due for a significant downturn, the price is worth the security of the pitching mismatch.
