Look, both these teams are scraping the bottom of the barrel, but when you peel back the curtain, Chicago’s got a sneaky edge with Burke’s low BAA (.238) and higher strikeout total (39) over more innings compared to Eflin’s leaky ERA (5.40) and hittable BAA (.266). The White Sox lineup, while punchless in the power department, actually puts more bats on the ball—Meidroth’s .286 average and Quero’s .255 show more consistency than anything Baltimore trots out. With the Orioles’ best hitters slumping (nobody over .259 except Rivera with no pop) and Eflin’s tendency to let games get away from him early, I’ll gladly take the run and a half—the books are pricing Baltimore like they’re contenders, but I don’t buy it.
